Atlanta, GA – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA)is celebrating two very special events this week. First. the mentoringorganization is will celebrate the grand opening of their new 25,000 squarefoot facility in midtown Atlanta, and later in the week the organization willhonor community leaders at its 18th Annual Legacy Awards Gala.

After20 years and $4.2 million dollars, CEO Janice McKenzie-Crayton and communityleaders will cut the ribbon and officially open the doors to its new home.  The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremonywill be held on Thursday, September 6th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 1382 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA30309.  

Therenovated building, equipped with environmentally friendly materials, is doublethe size of the their previously rented home. Now, the mentoring organizationwill be able to serve more children and increase its staff.

The festivities will continue on Saturday,September 8th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with the 18th AnnualLegacy Awards. Created in 1995, the ceremony honors Atlanta community leaderswho have made significant contributions to their professions and the community.

This year’s honorees are Mr. John Brock, CEO ofCoca-Cola Enterprises and his wife, Mary Brock, co-owner of the WNBA AtlantaDream. The gala will be held at the St. Regis Hotel located at 88 W. PacesFerry Rd., Atlanta, GA 30305.

Founded in 1960, BBBSMA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofitorganization and an affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. TheMission of BBBSMA is to provide children facing adversity with strong andenduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships that change theirlives for the better, forever. In 2010, BBBSMA served more than 3,200 childrenages 6-18, in a 12-county service area, making it one of the largest affiliatedagencies in the United States.
